The spread is real: a skilled player who knows the map can finish far faster than a first-timer who scans every room. Plan for 15 to 20 hours on a normal exploratory run, and longer if you chase completion.
What changes the length
- Scanner discipline: scanning shortcuts and secret rooms saves backtracking, but scanning everything adds time; the walkthrough explains how the chapter route uses that habit.
- Boss attempts: Possessed Amari alone can add an hour if you do not use lock-on.
- Fast travel: the network unlocks later than many players expect, so early backtracking is on foot.
- Difficulty spikes: the announced patch may add difficulty options, which would widen the range.
- Completion tracks: blasters, boosters, Gists, scan percentage and inventory percentage are separate goals.
HowLongToBeat status
HowLongToBeat has a Moadra page, but the three time fields render as placeholders until login or an internal data call. No average was retrieved, so this page does not quote one.
When HLTB has enough submissions, its medians will be a better sample than a single reviewer. Check the page directly before planning a strict schedule.
Speedrun and low-completion routes
The Super Speed Run achievement requires a clear under three hours, and only 0.5 percent of players had it on 3 November 2026. That is a route knowledge benchmark, not a typical playtime.
A first run should not be planned around it. The full-clear video runs 9 hours 49 minutes even with route knowledge, which shows how much exploration and combat remain outside a tuned speedrun.
Questions players ask
How long does Moadra take to beat?
A reviewer estimates 12 to 18 hours for the main story. A completionist report suggests 15 to 16 hours for nearly 100 percent, and other players may take 20 to 30 hours. There is no official length.
Is Moadra short?
It is a mid-length Metroidvania, not a five-hour game. A skilled clear is under 10 hours; a first exploratory run is usually longer.
